Description

Santoku “Vine”

This is a universal knife, an ideal general-purpose kitchen tool, inspired by Japanese santoku knives. It looks like a combination of a light cleaver and the classic chef’s knife. You can use it interchangeably with the second one.

Santoku’s blade is shorter than in the chef’s knife, which makes them a handy knife for beginner cooks or persons who feel intimidated by the size of the classic chef’s knife. It has a unique profile: thin blade with a straight cutting edge and the spine curving downward to the tip. Using up-and-down in a rapid motion while chopping with santoku is effective, but you need some practice to learn how to do it correctly.

This knife is perfect for preparing fish, meat and vegetables | slicing | chopping | mincing.

How to care

  • Never wash them in a dishwasher!
  • Do not leave them in the sink.
  • Wipe the blade with olive oil (or any edible oil) once in a while.
  • You can treat the handle the same way – greasing is the best form of knife maintenance.
  • Handmade knives require proper storage – they prefer magnetic strips (ideally one that does not scratch the blade) or knife blocks – in other words, they like to be displayed.
